The Katsina State Police Command has intensified security around schools across the state following fresh directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to strengthen protection of educational institutions.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Bello Shehu, issued the directive after holding a strategy review session with tactical commanders in Katsina. The meeting examined existing security frameworks and explored ways to reinforce ongoing operations across the state.

Following the review, the commissioner ordered the Coordinator of the School Protection Squad to fully activate all school safety mechanisms and ensure that learning environments remain secured. He also approved the deployment of additional personnel and resources to strengthen surveillance and rapid-response capability.

Shehu urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and supporting ongoing crime-fighting efforts aimed at safeguarding schools and communities.

The command provided emergency contact numbers for the public to reach the police in cases of security concerns:
08159677777, 07072722539, and 09022209690.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
